Reiki, The Immune System and Stigmata

I have recently read information about the effects of immunity on stigmata, a most fascinating topic. Stigmata is a condition where a person bleeds at the crucifixion sites where Christ was wounded-hands, feet and forehead. The bleeder often identifies with Christ suffering so much they reenact his tortuous event. A National Geographic team has studied the latest stigmatic(only 350 since St Francis in 1220) After drawing blood for examination in the lab, the team discovered the stigmatic "wounds himself, keeps the wounds from getting infected, and heals himself"-all within his/her internal immune response system-all done in the sub conscious!! The Geographic team discovered our own immunity can wound us and heal us. This has brought much insight into prominent auto immune diseases as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis and fibromyalgia(self destructive disorders). Since Reiki brings immunity into balance-effects thymus, bones and stress hormone response, I see it as a state of the art therapy for disease of this kind. My greatest wish as an RN and Reiki Master is to see Western medicine fully embrace mind-body medicine and "start this new practice now." How about you? What are your thoughts?

Dr. Usui, Reiki founder, made Sacrifices

I recently had a Japanese student who pointed out we Americans do not understand Japanese culture. She was born and raised there and informed me about Japanese secrecy: they are a subdued society where free speech is often curbed. She said Dr. Usui shared Reiki secrets with the general public-a real "no,no." Because he had Reiki Masters from outside his disinterested family, he was shunned by his children and suffered emotional punishment He gave up family tranquillity in exchange for getting Reiki into the world where it was needed.I honor him for all his compassion, sacrifice and efforts.

It's definately ancient

A few months ago I was able to go on a most awesome trip-to the interior of Alaska. An incredible event took place in the tundra, just 200 miles south of the Arctic Circle where our bus trip concluded and came to a halt. There on Inspiration Point I was able to speak with an Athabaskan Inuit about her tribe's views on "healing with Hands"or energy healing. As a golden eagle flew over our heads, she confirmed that they have been healing with hands for thousands of years-- it is revered and valued work. She verified what I had read...healing with hands is ancient and the oldest form of healing known to human kind. Has anyone read or witnessed other cultures using Reiki or related techniques? Please comment.

Energy From God, What I Believe

All energy therapies are important to me, but I am most passionate about Reiki. What differentiates Reiki from other energy therapies is its strong spiritual component. I approach Reiki from its sacred place and consider it with true reverence. Reiki is not a religion; it has no religious philosophy or dogma. It complements all religions without being connected to one. Personally, I (and many others) view Reiki as “Energy from God.” This spiritual energy, God’s gift to us, is accessible to all human beings at any time; we are its conduits. There is an unending abundance of this universal “chi” in the trees, the sky, the earth, and all living things. As the Reiki practitioner taps into our Source, then places his/her hands on a client, this energy quickly passes through him/her and into the receiver. Many say it is a privilege to be an instrument for Reiki energy, and I agree. Since we do not produce it, but simply channel it, we are not drained from providing treatments.
The energy exchange is perfect between the client and God and does not require our micromanagement for an exact outcome. The body has its own innate intelligence and draws this potent and available energy in as it needs to. The giver also receives healing benefits from providing a treatment. The whole Reiki concept is divine in nature, powerful, and flawless.

Speaking my truth-disappointment in Western Medicine

As a seasoned RN and Reiki Master I had hopes Western Medicine would soon embrace complimentary medicine, especially Reiki and related. But as time goes on, I find this acceptance is very slow in American Hospitals. I am going to speak my mind and I hope there are folks out there who support me. Dr Bruce Lipton, a cellular biologist, has shown documented proof Western Medicine is the #1 killer in America-killing more than any major disease. Death is due to MRSA (hospital based infection), medical errors and side effect of drugs(100,000 a year reported). Just think if we had 100, 000 deaths in plane crashes annually would anyone get on a plane?? Just last week a cousin of mine announced she has breast cancer. She spoke of her treatment-chemo, radiation and surgery as if a wart was being removed from her finger. No problem-it will all be fixed by general medicine shortly. In shock, I asked her if Reiki or related was in her agenda...absolutely not! No need for such nonsence.
Personaally, I would immediately include a healing modality for myself if such a situation occurred. Cancer Centers of America, a holistic minded group, not only provides Reiki in the hospital but asks patients to get Reiki at home. Reiki works to help the whole body-reduces stress, reduces pain, promotes wound healing and can bring blood levels to normal in many documented cases. So whats taking America so long to embrace Reiki as vital to health? What are your thoughts on this topic?

The Day That Changed The Way I Think About Healing...

I remember the exact day my thoughts about conventional healing shifted. I was the charge nurse on a hospital oncology unit. One day, while working on my unit and preparing to infuse another IV, I held a bag of chemotherapy tightly in my right hand. As I reached for the IV tubing with my free hand, I spotted a medical magazine on the counter nearby. On the cover, in bold print, it read, “Energy Healing has been shown to reduce the size of tumors in a recent study.” It immediately awoke my interest. What was this “Energy Healing” about and if, indeed, it reduced tumors, could we practice it in my department?
After I read the journal, I was so drawn to the research and extraordinary stories of reducing the size of tumors with the use of healing hands therapy that I wanted to learn more.
I searched for places to study this type of intervention and a month later enrolled in a class called “Therapeutic Touch” at Michigan State University. That was the beginning of a long journey of discovery into the world of healing mind, body, and spirit. A powerful and new dimension of healing was revealed to me, one I never knew existed.
In class I learned that healing with hands is the oldest method of healing known to mankind. It is approximately 5,000 years old in written history and 12,000 years old in pictorial history. It has been with us since the beginning of time and probably will never leave. It has been practiced universally by every race, religion, color, and creed for centuries. Since it is part of our divine inheritance, it is innate in all of us: A mother pats the back of her crying child, and we place our hands on our head for a headache or on our stomach for stomachache. Simple responses that are so huge.
